2009: (Edmonton) Maas dressed as the second string quarterback in all 18 games. On July 9th in Montreal, Maas came in late in the 4th quarter and was three of five for 43 yards and an interception. On July 16 against BC, Maas played the 4th quarter and was eight of 11 for 136 yards. He went into the game for a couple plays in the Labour Day Classic and was one of one for 13 yards. On Oct. 2 Maas went into the game and was 6 of 11 for 43 yards and an interception and ran once for nine yards. In the final game of the season in BC, Maas came into the game and was 0-1 in passing and ran once for five yards. Maas also handled holding duties on field goals for the final few games. Playoffs: Maas was the back-up quarterback and held for field goals in the Western Semi-Final.
2008: (Edmonton) Maas dressed as a backup quarterback for all 18 games. He saw action in Mtl on Sept 21 and was eight of 12 for 110 yards. He then played the 2nd half of the Oct. 25 game in Saskatchewan, going six of 16 for 57 yards. He also played most of the second half in the final game of the season, going 12 of 16 for 173 yards. He finished the season with 26 completions in 44 attempts (59.1%) for 340 yards and one interception. He also rushed three times for 30 yards. East Semi-Final and East Final: He dressed as a back-up quarterback.
Career: A nine-year CFL veteran, Maas spent the first six seasons with the Esks where he enjoyed his best years as a pro. In 2001, Maas was named a CFL West All-Star and was Edmonton’s nominee for the CFL Outstanding Player Award. On October 24, 2004, Maas joined Hall of Famer Warren Moon as the second Eskimo quarterback to pass for over 5,000 yards in a season. He finished the ’04 campaign with career best numbers: 361 completions on 549 attempts (65.8%), 5,270 yds and 31 touchdowns, 79 carries for 252 yds rushing and 8 TDs. Maas played a pivotal role in Edmonton’s remarkable playoff run to their 2005 Grey Cup championship. In both the West Semi-Final and Final games, Maas came off the bench to ignite the offence and engineer game-winning drives. Following the 2005 Grey Cup victory, Maas was traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He was traded to Montreal in September 2007 and dressed for nine games and the East Semi-Final and was released following the season. Maas attended training camp with the Baltimore Ravens in 1999, playing in one pre-season game.

College/Personal: He played 20 games over four seasons at Oregon. He finished his college career completing 120 of 226 passes for 1763 yards, 19 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He was a two-time honourable mention academic All-Pac 10 Conference selection. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. He attended high school in Yuma, Arizona where he played football, basketball and baseball. He and his wife, Marjean, live in Sherwood Park with their daughter Makaela.
