HERVEY NAMED ESKIMO HEAD SCOUT
(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos announced today that Ed Hervey has been named Eskimo Head Scout.
After his retirement from football in March 2007, Hervey made a smooth transition into his new role as the Eskimo West Coast (U.S.) Scout. Hervey was heavily involved in the 2007, 2008 and 2009 CFL Canadian Drafts and helped coordinate several Eskimo open tryout camps the past two springs.
Eskimo General Manager and Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia says, "In just two years, Ed has developed into one of the top young football minds in the CFL with an especially keen eye for both talent and character. This new role and title reflects the broad scope of the work he does for the Eskimos."
Hervey played eight seasons as a wide receiver with the Eskimos from 1999 to 2006. In his rookie season, the USC product ranked second on the team with 48 pass receptions for 665 yards and five touchdowns. He enjoyed a breakout season in 2001, posting seven 100+ yards receiving games. In 2003, he was the Esks’ second leading receiver and recorded three two-touchdown games. Over 118 games, Hervey hauled in 476 catches for 6715 yards and 43 touchdowns. The two-time CFL All-Star has also played in eight playoff games and three Grey Cup games, winning two in 2003 and 2005. In 2006, Hervey received the David Boone Memorial Award in recognition of his tireless work in the community.
